This quarter, I came to Changping, Dongguan to connect with a factory project. Previously, I always chose compact business hotels around the industrial zone. This time, I was recommended by a local partner to stay at the Hui Huihua International Hotel Dongguan. After staying for three consecutive days, it directly refreshed my understanding of business accommodation in Dongguan - it's a 10 minute walk from Changping Station, and all the facilities are tailor-made for business travelers, reducing the fatigue of running projects by half.
The convenience of transportation is simply a must-have level of friendliness for business people. It takes 10 minutes to walk directly from Changping Station to the hotel, without having to drag a suitcase and take detours on the muddy roads in the industrial area. You can directly take a taxi to the nearby factories to discuss matters, and within 15 minutes, you can basically cover the core industrial park in Changping, completely avoiding the most congested road sections during morning and evening rush hours. On my first day at the factory review meeting at 9am, I didn't have to go out an hour in advance to grab a car. I could leisurely finish breakfast and wander around. I could also organize materials at the factory entrance half an hour in advance. The hotel comes with a large free parking lot. I held a cross-border video conference for two consecutive nights, and the internet speed was stable throughout the entire process without dropping a single cable. This time I came to Changping, Dongguan to hang out with friends, but I didn't choose a popular new hotel. Instead, I stayed at Huihua International Hotel Dongguan. After staying for two nights, I realized that this old high-end hotel, which has been open for many years, has the most authentic Dongguan travel experience - close to the train station, with a strong Cantonese flavor, and even the details are filled with a sense of security familiar to the locals.
It's only a 10 minute walk from Changping Station, and you don't have to drag your luggage around the complex pedestrian bridge. You can see the grand lobby of the restaurant from afar. The doorman came over from afar to pick up my luggage. When I checked in, the front desk spoke authentic Dongguan dialect and didn't recommend any paid items to me. Instead, they handed me a handwritten list of nearby shops, including the 20-year-old Zhusheng Noodle Shop in the alley and the roasted goose stall that still opens at 2am, which is 100 times more reliable than the guides I searched online.
The first impression of the deluxe room I booked was that it was spacious and transparent, without the stuffiness of an old hotel. The floor to ceiling window is facing the city street view of Changping. The distant green trees and the business circle are intertwined. In the evening, the sun sets, and the whole room is bathed in warm light. The mattress is just right in terms of softness and hardness. As someone with a poor waist, if I sleep a little longer, I won't feel any back pain or soreness the next day. The bathroom has been separated into dry and wet areas, with hot water coming out in just 3 seconds. After taking a shower, I wrapped myself in a bathrobe and collapsed onto the sofa by the window. Listening to the Cantonese style street vendors in the distance, that sense of relaxation suddenly appeared.
The most surprising thing is the morning tea in the hotel. You don't need to go to the Wanghong Tea House in the downtown area. You can have authentic Cantonese Dim sum downstairs. The skin of the shrimp dumpling is thin enough to see the whole shrimp inside. The chicken feet with soy sauce stew until the bones are removed. Even the Congee is the old Congee that is cooked now. My friends and I ate it slowly for two hours. Beside them, local aunts and aunts were pushing trolleys to get Dim sum, and the smoke was directly filled. The free parking lot provided by the hotel is particularly large. My friends and I rented a car to go around Songshan Lake without having to look for parking spaces everywhere. We parked the car directly at the hotel entrance, which was worry free and safe.
It's also very convenient to stroll around, just a 10 minute walk to the core business district of Changping. After dinner, walk slowly along Zhongyuan Street, and the roadside is full of small stalls selling Dongguan specialty snacks. I want to go to Yinxian Mountain Villa to play. It only takes 15 minutes by taxi, so I don't have to rush through the rush hour traffic. My friend and I came back from a late night stroll on the street, and the front desk downstairs kindly handed us two free cups of herbal tea, saying that blowing the sea breeze at night can easily get us angry, and the details were all considerate in the style of Lao Guang.
After staying for two nights, there was no flashy internet celebrity marketing, it was all the down-to-earth and comfortable experience accumulated from old hotels. Compared to many new hotels that focus on appearance but are uncomfortable to stay in, this old-fashioned hotel that hides the authentic Cantonese style fireworks atmosphere is the most worthwhile place to stay in Changping.
